What is the meaning of my precious little one’s GROUP?
This is the group that he or she will be allocated based on age and level.
What does LEVEL mean?
This is the level (also known as ‘class’ that your child will be competing in during a specific period.
How do I know what age group my child is?
Your child’s age group is determined by her age on the 1st of January of that year.
What does JGC stand for?
Johannesburg Gymnastics Centre....and so many other things!
What is SAGF?
South African Gymnastics Federation.
Our local federation who oversees the administrative and ruling functions of gymnastics in order to keep things fair, competitive and legal.
What does CG stand for?
Central Gauteng Gymnastics Association (our district).
JGC is based in the CG district and will compete as such on a national level. We form part of the Gauteng province.
What does MAG mean?
Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.
Here at JGC we do cater do for boys by offering a great base and teaching the fundamentals of gymnastics for pre schoolers, pre level 1 and level 1-3 boys.
What does WAG mean?
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

At what age can my little one start gymnastics?
Don’t wait too long. The minute they turn 2 years old, is the same minute you complete the sign up form.
Why should I do gymnastics?
Gymnastics is very commonly known to be one of the best bases for all sport types. Gymnastics not only allows you to exert physical control over your body, but also helps with gross motor development, coordination, strength development as well as flexibility development. It has also been proven to have a major impact in the following areas of your child’s development:
- Social skills
- Confidence
- Discipline
- Perseverance &
- Time management
What is the maximum number of gymnasts per group?
We strive to keep a ratio of maximum 8 gymnasts per coach.
